“Karalama” were calligraphy exercises (tamreen) done by the master calligraphers in Topkapi Palace during the 16th century.
Before even attempting to exercise on the holy Quran & Firmans (Royal edicts), the calligraphers used to exercise on the letter as an art form.

The Tamreen collection, created by Mohamed Maktabi of IWAN MAKTABI, merges
the art of calligraphy and the art of weaving in a new and contemporary
creation.
Pieces are handknotted in wool, silk and nettle mix, and can be customized in a multitude of colors & sizes.
